Overview
In August 2024, ArbitrumDAO introduced an upgraded Delegate Incentive Program (DIP) to strengthen governance, increase delegate participation, and professionalize the role within the ecosystem.
This program was designed to incentivize dedicated governance contributors through a transparent and predictable compensation structure, aligning incentives with ArbitrumDAO’s long-term success.
The new version of the DIP was developed by SEEDGov, incorporating lessons from the initial program launched in March 2024.
Budget: $4,200,000 USD in delegate incentives over 12 months.
Compensation: Up to $7,000 USD/month in ARB, based on performance.
Tiered Compensation Model
Tier 1: TP ≥ 85% → $5,950 - $7,000 USD (max 16,500 ARB).
Tier 2: TP ≥ 70% and < 85% → $4,200 - $5,100 USD (max 12,000 ARB).
Tier 3: TP ≥ 65% and < 70% → $3,000 - $3,250 USD (max 8,000 ARB).
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum delegation: 50,000 ARB.
Governance participation: ≥ 75% participation in on-chain votes over the past 90 days (tracked by Karma).
Adherence to DAO social agreements approved via Snapshot.
Registration in the DIP Application Thread to confirm participation.
New Additional Incentives
Bonus Points for attending governance calls:
2.5% BP for attending the "Arbitrum Governance Report Call" (monthly).
2.5% BP for the "Open Discussion of Proposal(s) - Bi-weekly Governance Call".
The program is managed by SEEDGov and Karma, which handle administration, metric tracking, and monthly payments.
Supervision & Control Mechanisms
Removal of special multisig – The program now operates under the MSS (Multisig Standard System).
Feedback review upgrade – A qualitative rubric has been introduced to assess delegate contributions.
Dispute resolution – Delegates can contest their evaluation within 4 days in the governance forum.
Suspension/ban mechanism – Delegates who fail to meet requirements can be suspended or removed, with an appeal process via Snapshot vote.
Q3 2024 – DIP v1.5 proposal posted for community feedback.
Q3 2024 – Snapshot vote to approve the new incentive model.
Q4 2024 – Tally vote & official implementation.
Q4 2024 – Q4 2025 – Program execution with quarterly reviews.
Q1 2025 – Mid-term review & potential adjustments.
ArbitrumDAO is professionalizing its governance system with a structured performance-based compensation framework.
Adopts a scalable incentive model, aligning with Compound, Uniswap, and LidoDAO.
Encourages active participation and transparency by requiring adherence to DAO agreements and voting rationales.
Introduces additional incentives, such as Bonus Points, for engagement in governance discussions.
Removes reliance on external multisigs, ensuring DAO-controlled payments and incentive rules.
Implements a new qualitative feedback rubric, prioritizing quality over quantity in delegate contributions.
